Get to Know BOAZ | Meet Chris, the Founder of BOAZ Ammo

With over 17 years of tactical experience through professional security training and nearly a decade of competitive shooting, Chris turned his passion into a purpose. What started as a hobby in reloading evolved into a mission to support the shooting sports community with reliable, high-performance ammunition.

In early 2023, a conversation with a friend sparked the idea to take this passion to the next level—and that’s how BOAZ Ammunition LLC was born. Today, BOAZ operates with full federal licensing to responsibly manufacture and distribute ammunition.

Proudly based in historic Watauga, TN, one of the smallest and most iconic towns in the U.S., BOAZ is committed to quality, consistency, and community. Our products are designed with match-grade performance in mind—perfect for both competitive and practical use.

We use carefully selected components such as double-base spherical powder for reduced recoil and flash, and precision-coated polymer bullets for dependable results.

Get to Know BOAZ | The Story Behind the Name.

Reloading ammunition started with redemption—taking what others consider discardable and transforming it into something valuable once again. That’s how it all started for us: with the simple idea of reclaiming spent brass and giving it new life and purpose.

It’s more than just a process—it’s a principle. And it's the same principle that inspired the name BOAZ.

The name Boaz appears twice in the Bible. It was the name of the left pillar in Solomon’s temple, symbolizing "in the strength of" or "in Him is strength." More notably, Boaz is a key figure in the Biblical Book of Ruth, where his name means "quickness" or "swiftness." He was of the lineage of King David and known as the Kinsman Redeemer—a powerful type and shadow of Jesus Christ, who redeems us from our sins.

More about that HIStory. Naomi was married to Elimelech, and they had two sons. During a severe famine, their family moved to Moab. There, each son married a Moabite woman—Ruth and Orpah, princesses of Moab. Sadly, Elimelech and his sons died, leaving Naomi with her two daughters-in-LOVE. Naomi decided to return to her homeland, Bethlehem, and both Ruth and Orpah initially went with her.

Following their customs, Naomi urged the two daughters-in-LOVE to return to their families. Orpah chose to leave, but Ruth committed to stay and embrace Naomi’s God as her own. While in Bethlehem, Ruth gleaned in the fields of BOAZ, a relative of Naomi’s late husband. According to cultural tradition, a close family member was to redeem a widow through marriage. The first eligible man wanted the estate but not the marriage so he declined, passing the right to Boaz, who honored the responsibility. Through their marriage, Ruth—though not of Jewish heritage— gave birth to Obed, father to Jessie, father to King David. This is how an unlikley candidat was grafted into David’s lineage, which eventually led to the birth of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

This is a story of redemption—just like Jesus redeemed us, grafting Gentiles into God’s family, taking on our debt of sin, and transforming our lives from lack to abundance with a new identity filled with eternal hope and purpose.

That same spirit of redemption inspired the birth of our business. Just two months after launching our initial model, BOAZ made a pivotal investment in our first commercial press—moving forward with the quick-swiftness reflected in the very meaning of our name. What began with reclaimed brass has now grown into something even greater. Today, we focus on producing high-quality new ammunition with precision, strength, and purpose—true to the legacy and integrity of the name BOAZ.
